I have to admit, I'm not a fan.
They're still here, around, you see the license plates in the hotel parking lot across the alley. Idaho, Washington, California, etc.
And you get them in the restaurant. Belligerent. A walk in party of 10, no reservation, Friday night, set them up, they won't wait to deal with their server (not me), instead loudly flagging me down whenever I'm close to order a drink or dinner.
I'm a little fed up with this.
Now Nelson, if you know, has a long history with these people, these "Americans", having been settled (re) by them in the 70's, the draft-dodgers, the hippies, and these ones, these are the offshoots come to visit, 1 or 2 generations removed.
They are arrogant, bossy, demanding. And, given current geo-political events, I'm less and less inclined to listen to them.

Provocation; Sunday Morning, an American (??) non-recognized homeless person, walking down Baker St, the centre line, wrapped in an American Flag and spouting rhetoric. About 6 weeks ago, when the Mango's vitriol was spewing full force. Then Yesterday, afternoon, 2 middle aged men, heavyset and goatees, real freedom fighters, walking down Baker in full Camo. It’s not hunting season. No one from town would do this. Fairy? Fine. Camo? Not so much. And this morning, as I’m leaving OSO, someone walks past me, middle-aged decrepit academic type, I say type, clearly he wasn’t, that MAGA Hat he was wearing betrayed him. We should be making these kinds of threats illegal, Like the Germans and the Nazi Swastika, they are by design to intimidate, belittle us, the bullying of the CAMO men trying to intimidate a small vacation town, a belligerent vibe for sure, the MAGA hats, we have our own home-grown idiots to deal with, COSPLAYING tough guys, ICE agents, the "FUCK CARNY" crowd that just can't seem to get it together, the idiots that need a voice, that should be writing columns for the "Calgary Herald", promoting all the cheery benefits annexation will confer.
There is that part of me that suggests a walk out of town, but our gun-in-laws don't agree, don't tally, and this, this would be the incentive they're looking for. But fuck, given their borders why do we have none of our own?
