A fine day off and I take my temporary passport and head to the border. The Selkirk Loop. Down through Sandpoint, explore thrift shops, antique shops (no money to buy, but look, get inspired.).
Sandpoint is cool, the weather fine, something about being in the US, cheap gas and cigarettes, life is mighty fine...
And I check out a rock shop in Sandpoint, and things go from fine to excellent. Some amazing specimens:

A four foot tall Amethyst geode, from Brazil, with amazing quartz or Calcite crystal in the middle. If you were religious this would be proof of God. And, hard to believe, I know, but cheap at a mere $15, 000 Canadian. And I mean cheap, this is an amazing piece, museum quality...If I won 10 million dollars I'd buy it for my locker and pay somebody to clear a spot for it...

And cool specimens of Stikine River garnets, good color, and pretty displayed on the schist. But of extra interest to me because I've found similar - smaller, but specimens on schist, good crystals, and so maybe I can monetize mine?

Beautiful included quartz for Chakras. This is the beginning of something that I can't finish, but, hey, lets go a little down that road anyways...
Boji Stones? WTF are these? You can't really seem them through the plastic bags...Lets read the pamphlet (I tried to get one, but they only give them away with purchase...)

(right click & open in new tab to embiggen and read...or read more here: https://www.avaloncrystals.com/bojistones)
I couldn't make this shit up, or I could but I'd be a little bit embarrassed. How am I poor?
And this:

These are interesting. Lets read their pamphlet, shall we?

Yeah. All right. And this is the tip of the iceberg, if you've been in any of these types of shops you know, there is so much more, but I am inspired, I am inspired...
Beryl in Quartz

Fine weather, 18. 20, 25 degrees, and I've been out and about. And found some stuff, finally, that's giving me hope (because the job, lets be real, in this weather is nothing but despair).

A big rock, quartz, but of interest is a large - maybe 6 or 7 cm long crystal that runs down the middle - hexagonal, Beryl, I'm guessing, the non-gem variety of Emerald, but it fills me with hope, it shouldn't be here, none of the mining reports I read mention anything other than Black Tourmaline, this one, white or colorless (it would need a fair bit of cleaning) is a pretty large and fine specimen, not pretty, but there will be better when I find the source...
And the other treasure hunting season is underway. 3 days until I'm living in the woods, there will be time...
Every Waiters Nightmare

(A few nights ago the restaurant filled, 19 tables inside, 4 on the patio, I was the only one on. It was every waiter's nightmare. Some of the customers got it, some didn't, I couldn't even begin to keep up with the apologies, let alone the service. Summer is coming. And surviving the nightmare I knew there'd be dreams...)
That I'm in the restaurant, people coming, going, the restaurant but not this restaurant, the same but not, and everyone is arriving and ordering and I'm not keeping up, despite it not obviously being all that busy, making drinks, clearing tables, forced into idle chit-chat by tables that don't understand...
...and I realize that I'm dreaming, that I don't have to be doing this, I can do whatever I want, yet still I continue to make their drinks, bring their food, wake up, fall back asleep, to the same dream, realize that I'm dreaming this, accost one of the customers for sex, she consents, people around are trying not to pay attention, but it's my dream after all and I'll do whatever I want, I break from sex for a minute to go and pour some drinks, bring some food, get back to her, she didn't think she'd be getting lucky, she must be dreaming as well, she's taken the break while I'm running around to start to trim up her bush, rug, she's grown it a bit Kootenay Style, ...
...from her to another customer I didn't realize was here, shes staring at me in shock and horror, me, fornicating away in the middle of the restaurant, "What? You want sex too?" I ask her, she demurely looks down and quietly answers "Yes"...
(A restless dream, not good, never able to escape the restaurant, the expectations of others, not, despite the content, even the least big sexy, more about how I've made myself slave and prostitute to the expectations of others...something to think about.)
Friday 13th

A couple of weeks ago, paranoid, I'd be pulled over by the cops (and there were lots), it'd be a shit night at work, something always goes wrong...
And trying to root out the source of the superstition, I remembered first hearing of it when I was a kid, maybe 6 or 7, my mom was reading to me "Tom Sawyer", and it came down to that scene where Tom and Huck are digging for buried treasure, only they realize that it's Friday the 13th, and so give up and reschedule. No spoilers here. But an amusing recollection...
