Day off, spent prospecting over the Gray Creek Pass.

Snow at the higher elevations...

Only a small find, not of extraordinary interest, schist filled with garnet (or, given the color, red corundum, thinking maybe rubies)...

Need to knock a few out and check them, seem a bit colorful and irregular for garnets...

Thrift shopping in town, I've taken to keeping my eyes on the local donated art scene, there's a lot of good stuff.
Like this:

Nelson, it's paved with these works of genius outsider art, I've got to start a collection, arrange a few shows, MOBA has got nothing on this...
I buy it. I mean, I admired it, laughed, marveled, returned to it a number of times, finally I had to buy it. WTF is going on here? Who painted this? Man or a woman? What, what, exactly, were they thinking? Is it about a dead boyfriend, or one escaped off to the local psychiatric hospital? That smile, that smile... What's the title? Nelson Gothic? Merriment over Foon? What's up with the birds? They haystacks, they are haystacks, aren't they? Or are they mountains? Green Breasts? This is a work of unconstrained genius...There's a story here for sure.
This painting, with it's unknown provenance and author, it's a fucking masterpiece, and I have to find someone who'll appreciate it as much as me...
Be careful when you're checking the mail, you know I just might end up sending it to you...

I missed a "Beginners Guide to Nelsonia" at the Capitol Theatre, so I sent a couple of Friends from work in my stead...they said it was good. I could imagine, even if you weren't funny there's just too much material...
So, when on Sunday night the chance came up to see Shirley Gnome at the Royal, of course I leapt on it. I knew nothing about her, but I was needing my monthly dose of alternative ant and theatre...
She was good. I mean, I knew nothing about her, it was a walk-in blind situation, standard Nelson show with a smaller talented musical act first, followed by a burlesque show (always the burlesque, everyone in Nelson is dying to take off their clothes for an audience), followed by Shirley...
Look her up on YouTube. A fine nights WTF entertainment, Charming, Over the Top, another evening perfectly suited to the local tastes and climate.

I loved "The Lobster". And this looks as if it might be every bit as good...
