An 80 year old art theft, as yet unsolved:
"The panel was removed from the frame, apparently with care, leaving the other panels undamaged. In the empty space was left a note, written in French, with the words, "Taken from Germany by the Treaty of Versaile", a reference to the fact that the altarpiece had been returned to Ghent only a decade earlier after having been moved to Berlin during World War I."
The thief was later concluded to be Arsène Goedertier, who revealed on his deathbed to his lawyer that he was the only one who knew where the masterpiece was hidden, and that he would take the secret to his grave. Telling only his lawyer, Georges de Vos, that "I alone know where the Mystic Lamb is. The information is in the drawer on the right of my writing table, in an envelope marked 'mutualité.'"
Despite cryptic clues and numerous searches the panel remains lost, you can read more at the Wikipedia: The Just Judges.

I refrain - as much as possible, from the news. It's not a happy place, generally, and the general climate of fear and insecurity it promotes are at odds with my worldview. That said, I'd like to introduce you to Christine Chubbuck, a News Anchor, who shared my views, and the extremes it took her to.

A rather intriguing find at an antique store, and curiously postulated provenance:

Social App Idea

Now I had this idea which I am far too busy to follow up upon, but I'll gladly share it with you for a very modest cut of the royalties should you choose to develop it.
It's a Social App for phones (and probably tablets and PC's and whatever else...) that goes through your list of contacts - friends, and if after a month (or other user determined amount of time) you haven't contacted them - or they you, it prompts you with a reminder to call them, and if you don't within x hours or days it archives, deletes or moves the contact to an "acquaintances" group, downgrading the friendship. A hierarchical system, that keeps only the contacts you're current with, and reminding you to interact with them or lose their friendship. Optional additional features might include ranking value for friendships by how often they call you (or you them).
When you get it up and running I'll give you an address you can send royalty cheques to. I'm not greedy.
