I've taken a girlfriend (G) to a late night diner for a drink, I'm thirsty, and while I'm ordering my drink she's gone off to look at things on the shelf, amusing herself, and outside pulls up N. How long? Don't know, but I've got my drink and now am sticking around hoping to have a few words with her...hard, G is there, busy inside shopping the diner, in her own little world, I'm outside in the parking lot keeping a discreet distance, up pulls K - boys mother, and I go over to talk to her, then another car pulls up with my Mother, and another woman in another car, and N is waiting for me to come over and talk to her and I'm making excuses, making idle conversation with these various other women from my life...

And I'm on a blind date with Patti Smith who's come over to my place - not my place, large, spacious urban apartment overlooking the city - big city, not this city...nighttime, and Patti Smith is not the young and sexy Patti Smith but a much older, wrinkled Patti Smith, with long grey hair, shaved bald over the crown, it's awkward this and L and X are laughing at my discomfort, they dropped by unannounced, Patti obviously likes me and while I'm liking her company it's not in that way...
And now I'm in London, L-- has gotten me tickets to fly there with a couple of her friends, I'm going to a very exclusive, private club, membership is coveted and almost impossible to attain, we arrive at the door in fancy dress, steampunk meets cosplay, her friends, one a beautiful young girl dressed as a fairy with mask, the other a heavy steampunk inventor type, I'm the tag-along...they're screening the people at the door, looking for tokens of membership, we slip along into the crowd, up a winding corkscrew shaped gallery, throngs of people gazing upon the artwork on the wall, eventually we arrive at a landing where they're checking our memberships, indoctrinating new members, the fairy girl is called from the line to be punished - she failed to show her membership medallion, I'm to be indoctrinated, the deciding jury (including Banksy) is asking me nonsensical questions, testing my responses, and I'm confused? Am I to be witty or frank? What is the right answer? They're all very serious...
A large bouncer figure walks off at one of my responses with a disapproving harrumppph...It's a different world, this, my companions have made their way into the club, DJ ???, laser light show, music, I must have passed admission because now I'm making my way into the club, jostling along, dancing, dancing...
Room after room of wonders...
I call L--- to thank her, to what do I owe this pleasure I ask? and she replies only that she loves me very much and I should enjoy it...
Now I'm swimming, darkly lit pool, still somehow in the nightclub, not swimming so much as being carried along, L--- is paddling on her back and carrying me, arm wrapped around my neck, floating and looking up towards an invisible ceiling...
(vivid, strange, enjoyable?...)

Probably while he was sleeping he was directing this dream. A small town, bright, cheerful, coming upon the weekend, and I'm working for a bank.
I go into the safe, the 2 older proprietors - women, or more eccentric old ladies, begin to fill it with their own personal things and I realize that they're bent upon robbing the place, and in haste I grab my own things and put them into the safe, there's not enough time for everything, just a few things that are important, my fountain pens, a few items of jewelry, when they're done we're off.
We pick up the safe by the walls from the inside and move towns, go to another one, we walk the safe there, disguised as a house, we've got all weekend before the theft is discovered...
I don't know the old ladies. I don't know why I'm along on this heist, it's got a delicious element of the absurd adventure to it, we move to another town and set up our lives on the lam...
My other is there, my unseen, unknown, better other half. I don't see her, but she's coming along with us. I know she's with us, but I never get to see her face, don't know who she is, I just feel her presence....
The old ladies, meanwhile, have taken to cutting up the money from the safe, I wonder why their doing it, they're afraid of it being used to trace us, they assure me their going to pass on the cut up bits of money to artist friends who can use it in their artworks...
The people of the old town are looking for us. They want their safe back, and from time to time we fill our pockets and bags with the stuff in the safe, lift it up and carry it, moving onto another town to continue our life on the lam...
Eventually it has to happen. I've filled my bag to overflowing with my stuff, pens and gems and other loot from the safe, have gone shopping in the latest town when I spot some of the old townfolk set up in the supermarket watching for us...I think to escape, run back to the safe, warn the old ladies, but they've covered my exit, the gig is up...
We're old now, me and the unseen other half, and things have settled in. I still don't know who she is, but we've "done our time", I guess (don't remember), we've settled into the safe in another location, higher up, just her and me, it's colorful, bright colors and highly detailed, and there are lots of our friends that come around to visit, ...

I'm doing a review for a restaurant, a fine restaurant, by the sounds of things, and I've found my way there but it's just an apartment run by an unfriendly Vietnamese woman. Drear, depressing, but it's supposed to have the best food going, she's bringing in supplies now, you need a reservation, there's a table set up - folding - in her hallway for 2 - but she's unpacking the food now...delivery just arrived...I make a reservation for later.
What she does, that makes her special, is she gilds her food. Wraps it in 24K gold foil. For this restaurant, that's the hook. It's famous.
I'm back later, when they open, her apartment is now busy, folding tables and chairs set up everywhere. The food comes out, it's just ordinary food. Chicken wings and such. We - my date and I - drink mineral water and a couple of glasses of wine. I'm worried about how much this will cost. My date, she's loving it, me, it's just food. And I can't see the gold leaf anywhere, and am too shy to ask. I'm getting paranoid that I'll be called into work - my own restaurant job - and whether I'll be able to pay for this all...
The bill comes...lots of charges, the bottled water was $60 per bottle, lots of other charges, expensive, I'm not sure I have this in the bank, going to pay the bill, meanwhile my date is smacking her lips and telling me how good it was...I'm thinking it was overrated.
