This was a little curiosity, 18th century incomplete novel that takes the case of a Prince, who is witness to some Necromancy and Divination which he is at first at a loss to explain, then, when he is undeceived, goes down a rabbit hole that leads in the end to his being taken back to the faith by an enigmatic "Albanian".
More a little store of undeveloped ideas, not in any way great, merely curious, a peculiar half-developed tale sprung no doubt from indigestion, like a bad dream...

And, more than a little surprised at the outcome of last night's election. The big-orange Idiot did-it, he talked the blacks and latinos into voting for "Make America White Again", he talked women into giving up their reproductive rights, their right to vote (see here), why, he promised all Americans they'd never have to vote again, and I more than half believe him. He talked the Muslims, Palestinians, into voting for Israel and the Ukrainians into voting for Putin, why, well, he's done it. And once they figure it out...
While a part of me wants to believe that there's many a slip twixt cup and lip, and that in the two months before he sips from the cup of victory much can happen, the election of his party only cements into place glaring incompetence, self-serving idiocy and the most reprehensible of personal characteristics and characters. The USA just went to number 2 in the world, next to China, Russia even, and probably a lot lower than that. Certainly if you compare it to countries in the European Union they're all about to take a major plummet in everything, from lifestyle through - well, all of it.
Wait and see. The Orange Menace did nothing for the pandemic, the economy, any of it, he only enriched his family and cronies, and used the position of office to shield him from consequences. This will continue now unabated. Kennedy, the tapeworm-brain-parasite anti-vax conspirator in charge of the Federal Health Agencies, Musk in charge of the "Government Efficiency Commission", I could go on.
Anyways, time to turn off the news, for a much-deserved rest from insanity, news of wars will trickle through, there will be refugees, time now for other things, we'll be paying the price for this, and it would be a great thing if we had a leader strong enough to shut the borders and start looking for other trading partners, better neighbours, but, hell, we're only one election from voting in "No Security Checks Please" Pierre Poilievre, and Alberta's already been there a while. Did you know they just made it legal to trap wolverines? The only endangered species now in Alberta is intelligence...
The world as once we knew it is ending fast, and that is just the symptom.

Slight sense of achievement, 2 electric razors, neither of which would even slightly trim my beard, instead merely pulling it out in bloody hunks. One even stopped doing that.
So get onto YouTube, watch a few how to videos, fix one, then oil them both.
And now 2 razors, good as new.

The car, the car, always in the forefront of my mind. Finally, finally, after 100 false starts I go up the hill, it's still there, tires flat, windows broken. I call BCAA. It's looking good, only have to wait for the tow truck driver, only about 20 minutes later they call back, my car, is it insured? How long has it been there? They're on to me, no tow.
And so I call the wreckers and they actually promise to recover it that day.
There are things in it I could use, a waterproof camo jacket, fishing rod, lures, but, damn, let it go, I can get all of the above for $10 at a garage sale next year.
The next day, through the rain and drizzle, I walk up to where the car is - and - praise the lord - it's gone. Should I have grabbed the plates? I don't know, I only know it's off the large list of things I have to worry about. Now there's room in my life for a working high-clearance 4 Wheel Drive Jeep.

And the weather, perfect, fall, clouds in the morning, rain, drizzle, cold temperatures. Wake up, have a coffee, go back to bed, the snow's coming down the mountain. You can see it, maybe 100 meters up, not so long now, not so long at all...

And reading, after "A Voyage to Arcturus" Bloch's book on De Sade is looking pretty damned sane. And I'm still getting pages of notes out of it. I'll be a little more thorough in my review, but he's excellent, and far more entertaining than De Sade ever was...
