Yeah, so, attempts to sell the MacBrick Air having failed (2017, "too old") I'm stuck at the library trying to fix it. Fortunately my brother has some expertise there and provided me step-by-step instructions on how to patch (OpenCore via Github) and update the OS.
At the library because of the free wifi and this is not proving to be a quick procedure.
TO make matters worse my HP Stream (HP Scream, more like) is wanting to update itself. Only there's nothing can be done, it's out of memory, it's a fucking brick as well. And so I'm forever dismissing messages like:
This upon attempting to login. Shameless attempts to sell me solutions to problems of their own manufacture.
Once I've logged in I'm directed to the Microsoft Store:
Well played. At least there's consistency.
Followed by intermittent messages and pop-ups that advise me:
and:
Now, I use this computer to go on the internet. Slowly. I mean fucking slowly, I use my phone more, really, it's notepad or nothing. There's no upgrade that will save this other brick I'm using to write.
And the Apple, the forbidden fruit, slowly, hours now it's updating itself. My patience is vanishing, here goes my day off...
I'm tempted to go full Bonobo on them both, doing an ad for both HP and APPLE, but I still have slight hopes that when the new OS is installed (and I'll need to rinse and repeat, you can only upgrade in increments) that it will serve my purpose. But that waits to be seen.
Meanwhile, whittle at time in the library...

This was an interesting watch. Verisatium creates good content.

This, a cool detail from an antique bed. I don't need two. But I want it...
I settled for a picture. See how I'm growing?
You know, strip off the bad gilding and do it again better and it would be a very cool thing. And I wonder why the Pan motif, but most probably there's a reasonable explanation.

I'm trying to reacquire the equipment I'll need to get out prospecting this year. Gold Pan, Classifiers, small pick and shovel. Merely replacing what was stolen from me last year.
One of the volunteers has some classifiers, brings them in for me - they're perfect, if a bit small, but they'll work and they're definitely from the day:
Now, for a gold pan and the rest of the tools. I have a few spots I'd like to get to my next day off, if the car will start (and it's still there, last I looked...)
