Mushrooms & Mines

Thanksgiving, a beautiful fall day, off and exploring.
Mushrooms, everywhere, and I'm taking pictures and googling them because I know nothing about foraging and while they all look tasty I'm pretty sure I could come to some bad end as a result of faulty guesswork.

When I get back into cell range I search them. A couple are "agarics", not a good thing, others inedible or unknown, one apparently a variety of Oyster Mushroom...
IN any event while there's a wide variety most are inedible.

Then to the mines:

Enticing, top left note the mass of quartz crystals. Dirty, white, not what I'm after.

A lots of quartz, the blue beneath I suspect is fluorite.

And the big blocky grey stones - perfectly formed Galena (Silver/Lead ore) - large crystals, a huge seam right in the ceiling...The gold reflections are pyrites,

Another view of some great Galena Crystals, which, cleaned up, just might be saleable. Note the quartz crystals upper left.

Center top, big vug filled with dirty quartz.

left, gold-ish patch of arsenio-pyrites, other minerals.
The Galena here is the real treasure, and the great crystal shape might just make it collector quality....

The is, in essence, every New-Age help-yourself philosophy ever, contemporized for 1954.
"Change yourself and you change the world, discipline your thought, go-get-it man, where's your get up and go? You can do it, there's always a way, visualize, telepathy? Why Not?" The Jargon, phrasing, right out of some bad 50's movie about beatniks, but it hits all the bases - healing, self healing, body a reflection of mind, visualize it and it will come, it has to, ridiculous examples of dialogue and "case histories", all circa 1954, examples of recreated self-defeating dialogue, all this, the oldest of truths paraphrased and new to every generation, but the medium in a fashion is the message, we relate to people best in the language of our day.
That said, the message, the oldest one in the world, really, merely contemporized for the American Beat Crowd. I was amused.

Local Art: The last art exhibit at cafe ***, "Meh", abstractions by someone that doesn't understand abstraction and can't paint figurative.
But there's a new series, and - well...
Wow. Pencil sketches with acrylic highlights on small Dollarama wooden boards, maybe a foot by a foot. Classic movie scenes, Jack Torrence from "The Shining", Michael Keaton in "Beetlejuice", One of "The Jokers". Bloody highlights are painted on with Dollorama Acrylics. I imagine a seriously deranged adolescent putting together this show.
I stopped posting artists of the Kootenays, work got in the way, but I have to pick this up again.
Then, a few days ago somebody puts a CD in my hand, I recognize the "CD Release Party" from a few weeks ago at the Capitol, I recognize the artist, seen him around, this town is filled with artists. Apparently he's very good...
Only I pop the CD in for a spin, I'm "lucky", my car has a CD Player, and...
...and...
Well, he's apparently very good at performing other people's stuff.
This, this was - imagine me, strumming competently, lightly on the guitar while I accompany it with an falsetto that extemporates upon local history; sort of a Led-Zepplin meets Lord of the Rings elves and fairies meets whacked-out-local-nut-job singing about his love of LSD and this particular girl whom I can only feel sorry for but she's probably just as addled. This for 10 songs, but you couldn't tell one apart from another, they're all the same, fiddling the guitar, singing about absolute shit, musically uninspired and lyrically abysmal, and I'm laughing, this is too good, this is hall-of-fame sort of shit, the kind of local talent that no one talks about, and I just figured out what my son is getting for his birthday....and damn, I'll have to buy one for you Nola as well...
It's at that point where it's so bad it's good, and I want to leap on board and recommend it to everyone I know, learn the lyrics to a couple of the songs, fortunately there's no real melody, hum it, sing it out loud at the bus stop, in the cafe's, those who get it will get it...
Melting Steps: Temple of Hathor

My Facebook is filled with these, "mysteries" that upon the slightest examination prove to be no mystery at all.
For example, the melted steps within the Temple of Hathor in Egypt. According to the link on Facebook, and (briefly) on Reddit - "it would take 4k degrees fahrenheit (2204 celsius)to melt stone. That's a little less than the surface temperature of the sun."
Wow! That's proof of Ancient Aliens, or a Meteorite, or Nuclear War, or Atlantis, or something.
Only a single Google search reveals the steps are carved from Limestone - specifically travertine, which as the rain washed into the temple over thousands of years ran down the steps, both removing the limestone and redepositing it, in a process very similar to what you find in Caves.
So no mystery at all, the mystery being how people are too lazy to do the most remedial of research and come to an intelligent and informed conclusion, preferring to spread disinformation.
..That said, you heard the latest regarding 5G and the activation of the Covid shots?
