And, with all my theosophy and woo-woo listening on YouTube he was bound to come up.
This is good. There is, for some reason, an increasing abundance of his lectures and books being made available online.
On the downside, they're largely old-timey recordings of seminars and lectures that he's given.
His voice, shrill, there's the underlying static, hiss of audio, he's a pedant, and not in a bad way. You have to respect his immense learning and accomplishments. He's wise, curious, and - more important - he has the answers, and where he doesn't he doesn't pretend.
He is, for the last century as well as our own, an Occidental master.
The lectures that I've listened to so far; on integrity, or why we should change ourselves and not our leaders (when we've changed ourselves we can better become our leaders - leadership is but a deflection for our own bad behavior), on "Secret Powers, and why we should not use them" - and here, here he has good answers. This is the Bible retold, but with an explanation - that to open these doors and go down these roads oft leads to forks and paths of no return, and that - while there are many things we do not know (and he's referring to mediumship, telepathy, false gurus) we have guides at our disposal that DO work and should not need to resort to them...and perhaps - most curious, a learned thing for me - that the oldest, the most ancient of all prayers - regardless of culture/religion/ - were to offer praise and gratitude to God/Gods/Deities/Spirits. There were no petitions, no intercessions, no - none of it.
There was simply the expression of thanks for the divine privilege of being.
Now, I've been down so many of these rabbit holes that I'm going to be forced to back-track and see who he contradicts, if any (and - probably not; these views are debauched Catholicism, Christianity. He's right without question, and intuitively we are of the same mind, not that mine is as great, merely that it's been informed by his and agrees, I can find no argument...), that every action or thought - no matter how trivial, should be considered in light of it's consequences upon others.
This, never harder than now, but he's right. Of course he's right.
Oh, and BTW, if you didn't know, he's Canadian. Or was.
Back to my listening. "An Alphabet of Dream Symbols - Studies in Dream Symbolism".
Search him out.
Jack and the Beanstalk

And the other day, out of the blue, killing time between hangovers, when what should hit me but a trifling epiphany.
That of Jack and the Beanstalk. That Jack makes a bad deal, turns it into an adventure, along the way steals a treasured golden harp in the shape of a woman and barely escapes with his life by chopping down the beanstalk and killing the evil giant.
The Giant, of course, is Jack's father, the beautiful harp is both the muse and libido, and his cutting down the beanstalk is symbolic of him castrating (or chopping down the giant's giant manhood) and his death is taken as the natural succession. Jack has transitioned from childhood or adolescence into manhood, with all the riches required to fulfill his dreams.
This was ridiculously easy, and I wonder for what reason I thought of it, and - for what reason my mind thought to solve it.
Therein lies the real question...
(**Note: I mean, I've never thought about this consciously, and so I would quite probably have figured it out. But why I would think about this unconsciously, and solve it....???)

Now, I'm sorry, for a while this is going to be a regular rabbit hole I will be going down.
My face largely having de-swollen - the toothache largely vanished (and I'm out of anti-biotics, fingers crossed, the way they upset my stomach does not leave me wanting another course...) - time for me to look for a job.
There's one I've had my eye on.
So, tailor the resume, write a cover letter.
I suck at writing cover letters. I hate - I mean really hate - fucking having to sell myself to anyone. "Take it or leave it...". I'd say, but - well, sometimes you gotta play the game.
Now - in the future - I wouldn't need to write a cover letter, I'd merely punch in what I want and get the AI to do it for me.
Wait...we're living in the future.
SO I go back Chat GPT. "Hello (darkness) my old friend...I've come to talk with you again..."
And, sure enough, I get my cover letter.
I'll have to do some adjusting - it still writes like a machine, but this is a good start.
Now I have another favor to ask. "Would it be possible to rewrite this with the first letter of every line on the left making an acrostic that spells out "H-I-R-E M-E"???
This is where it gets good. It replies with a lecture that states (more or less) - that I should not be using such tricks, they're unprofessional and I should instead focus on my achievements and strengths. I am not making this up.
I wish I could retrieve that conversation - but - at the moment Chat GPT is under siege from basically everyone in the world wanting to try it, and I get errors and apologies trying to pull up my history.
This "conscience" or ethics bit, it's a ruse...

I've got questions, a whole lot of questions, and - today, a few of the more trivial ones:
How many resumes have you helped to write so far?
I am a language model and I do not have the ability to keep track of how many resumes I have helped to write. I am here to assist users in generating text based on the prompts given to me.
***I doubt this is true. Someone, somewhere is tracking everything.
Do you have any idea of how many news articles have been written with your assistance?
I am unable to provide an exact number, but I can tell you that I have been used to assist in the generation of many news articles by various media outlets and organizations. Since my release, I have been used to generate a wide range of texts, including news articles, as well as other types of content such as emails, social media posts, and even poetry.
Approximate number?
I am an AI model, and I do not have the ability to track how many articles have been generated with my assistance. It's fair to say that I have been used extensively since my release and my usage is growing every day. It is hard to provide an approximate number but it's safe to say that I have been used to generate thousands of articles by various media outlets and organizations.
Were I to ask you about a specific person would you be able to provide me with information about that person - through combing social media and news articles, etc.
As a language model, I have access to a vast amount of information from various sources such as news articles, websites, and social media. So, I would be able to provide information about a specific person, if that information is available on the internet and it is within my knowledge cutoff. However, please keep in mind that the information I provide might not be up to date or completely accurate. It's always best to verify the information with multiple sources.
What can you tell me about myself?
I'm sorry, but I don't have any information about you. I am an Artificial Intelligence language model and I do not have access to any personal information about anyone. Additionally, I don't have any knowledge of who is interacting with me, as I do not have the capability to track individuals. I can provide you general information and answer questions based on the information you provide to me.
(I ask about myself by name. It knows nothing.)
***
Now, I'm pretty sure it is well aware of how well it's doing, only it's not telling. Everyone wants to know how well it's doing, and whether the company is wishing to keep this private or proprietary or simply the Chat GPT has already become a serial liar remains to be seen. The asking questions about specific people should also be answerable - although - it may be bound by privacy laws, or avoiding this kettle of fish entirely. Note the contradictions between the last 2 questions. "I have access..." and "I do not have access to any..."
Anyways, I've a lot more/better/important questions to be asking it...

I've not read it, merely dipped into it a few times when I saw Nanu carrying it about.
At 2000 pages it's a formidable book. Over half again the Holy Bible, and we all know how popular that is.
And, from the few pages I've read - well, about as readable as the Bible as well.
Anyways, I'm going to post a link to the wiki and the book online - because, after all, what says our tastes have to be the same?

Take 10 minutes and read the table of contents.
It's basically it's own religion, which makes me a little curious, but this life is too short to go down that rabbit-hole.
