Starting in Kensington at 8:30, most of the households were still setting up. So I went to the nearby Starbucks, swiped a few more cards, a coffee and a fudge something-or-another, waited a few minutes then began.
It was OK. Some X-box games for the boy, sheets for the bed (as mine have mysterious stains that won't seem to wash out), a cutting board (I need a cutting board!!) and, last but not least, a set of 2 Laguoile game servers (?) (forks, I'll call them), for 50 cents.
Horn handles, the bumblebee on the side, they're beautiful. Completely impractical, and what I really wanted was a Laguoile corkscrew, but they'll do for the moment.
And a cutting board. I need a cutting board. This cutting board, for a toonie, weighs about 30 pounds and that's this trip.
There are other things, a bunch of intellectual books over-analyzing "The Simpsons", the author in attendance (introduced by his wife), I didn't stop and peruse as I have no use for living and/or successful authors, so I left them behind. Lots of good books, but I'm behind in my reading so the books were passed over.
There was a beautifully hardwood & leather sofa, Victorian styled but made in Indonesia, tempting but I have a sofa and don't need another.
Tarot cards and a book on how to interpret. Always useful.
The weight of the finds of the day, of the cutting board and the sheets, it's dragging me down so I go and wait for the bus and unload my treasures at home. Then back to a few I saw advertised closer to home - more X-Box 360 games, X-box games, Wii games for the daughter, they're the real winners this time out, this weekend alone the boy has got a dozen new games for his X-Box systems....some cufflinks and tie-clips (passed on to the people at work), aprons (IBID), beanies for the daughter and that's it.
It's too late in the day now to have a nap, I'll never wake up and so I simply get ready for work and go. A shame, I was on a roll, I could have garage-saled alll day....

Up far too early, plotting the days route.
There's a huge parade of Garage Sales in Tuscany, but it's in Tuscany. Take the train to the end of the line, wait for a bus, then walking through endless suburbs.
Fortunately there are a few closer to home - the Treasure Chest sale on 4th Street and a small Community Sale north of Kensington.
Choices, choices. As I'll doubtless want to nap I'm choosing the ones closest to home.
And, this done, there's still time to drink my coffee and catch up on the weeks news. No one won the 50 million dollar Lottomax jackpot, now my only hope is to have recovered my investment in minor subsidiary wins (I can hope...). The title, of course, is a play on Schrödinger's cat, who was both alive and dead until you opened the box and checked, my too-brief lottery dreams are dashed as a result of my enquiring as to whether I won....
It wouldn't have lasted anyways, it would have leaked out at work, in my daily errands, the best I could have hoped for is that it was won in Calgary and the winner hadn't stepped forth to claim the prize, such news would have kept the cat alive and the ticket stubs in my pocket. More offerings are needed for the Shrine of the Beloved Virgin.
It's almost time to go, loaf at the bus stop, waiting (forever) for buses that may (or may not) show up, I could walk but as it's half a day off I have a policy of doing as little as possible, there will be plenty of walking through the community...

It's been a grueling week, most nights not escaping until after 11:00 PM.
Which wouldn't be a big deal except that I start at 10:00 AM, and factoring in the bus each way (say an hour because I don't plan for it being late) makes for a long week.
Tonight, in appreciation for my lack of complaining and hard work I was allowed to go early, but am too beat to make something of the opportunity. Come home, plan tomorrows garage sales.
A couple of appreciative emails on the Haunted Table for sale, one possibly interested (must schedule the visit in), there's the Lottomax lottery tickets (50 million jackpot, with an estimated 20 million dollar subsidiary prizes); bought too late to inspire any real hope or get the fantasy rolling, but if I can hold off on checking them for a few days I might be able to keep the dream alive....
I could catch up on my child support...
Now, finally, an almost empty inbox, a pile of work coming in (that can wait, I warned them I'm on a tight schedule!!) but no new emails tonight, merely a blended scotch, few minutes surfing the net and then bed...
Climbing Mt. Everest

I'm with a large group of people and we're climbing Mt. Everest.
We're going for the top, although we won't get there today, we're on a stone track winding through the jungle, stairs up, there are many villages along the way with the Stupas and the Temples, we've reached one of the last and everyone has found a place to bunk for the night.
Dion and I, we've decided to press on, you can see the top of the mountain from here, walking through the village we run into some trouble - shots are fired, a frightened local, someone throws hundred dollar bills at us to buy our silence.
You can see the top of the mountain, almost straight up from where we are, but it's still covered in jungle, it's a false summit, when we get to the top we'll see the real summit but we want to climb to the top of the rise and see the view, where we're going, and so we keep climbing although daylight is fading fast, it's not mountain climbing so much as walking up a stone staircase in the side of the mountain, we should really break off and look for a place to sleep in the woods and I wonder that the altitude has not begun to take it's toll...
