The boys film pick of the day, I'd wanted to see it and so was pretty glad he suggested it, I wasn't too keen on listening to French Impressionist Music either.
Canadian made, documentary, various second rate and unidentified experts pontificating on the mess the IMF has gotten the world into, a plea for a change of thinking and politics. Margaret Atwood, David Suzuki, Jane Goodall amongst others.
I'm sympathetic and in agreement, that's the thing about these films, they're always preaching to the choir, the people who see them already share their POV, values, the seeing of the film only cements and confirms why we believe the things we do. Not challenging, no new information, stock footage culled from a variety of sources making it look a bit patchy, the plot - or the development of the theme - a bit uneven, probably a good thing to make high school students watch, but hardly a film to demand paid admission.

Sick day, in restaurants carefully scheduled to coincide with day off, few errands on list this morning (must remember to eat, I forget this and it will be someplace dire and local...), couple of thrift shops, an independent shop in Kensington (odd hours which serve more as guidelines as to when the staff will be somewhat recovered from their hangovers), independent shop isn't open so I plug the meter, go for coffee, by the time I'm back they're open.
Then lunch - Indian Buffet, the once a week balancing of my diet, home for a 4 hour non-lucid nap, reading Lolita, watching inane videos online. But a few discoveries - the first - Moon Based Nazis. Can't review yet, but looks promising:

"As long as there's none of those damned commercials" I tell the clerk as I buy the tickets, "Absolutely none" he tells me, "the film goes right into the movie...".
Now these commercials, the best, the Bronze, Silver and Gold Lion winners from Cannes, they're great. Some are better than great, most have far more insight, originality, depth and emotion than James Cameron's entire life's work. Links to some of the more memorable below.
Allstate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DU5LKoC1A8 - You know it's going to be good when the narrator tells you he's your son. The other Allstate commercials with Mayhem are worth watching as well.
Drink Driving - Brandhouse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JWUXXXJq8k - Like being a woman on Plenty of Fish...
Heineken - The Entrance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcX1PTOmvO8 - Which only serves to remind me how much I need to improve my party skills....
Nike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl0IlD4qLUM - Deep pockets can buy you great advertising. Love the ad, despise the corporation.
Indian Train: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzEKCYb6zzU - Just for the WTF factor. I mean, WTF.
Tippex - A hunter shoots a bear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ba1BqJ4S2M - Clever Viral, try and stump the hunter. Go on.
