And, after the skating, being in the NE and all and I have my own errands to run we stop at the ... thrift store.
A favorite, last find there was the candlesticks. Today, a saddle:



She's a little perplexed, laughing while I carry it about the shop, can't imagine why I'd need it. Me, personally, I can't figure out how I've lived without it...
A relative bargain at $65.00, "As Is", although I haven't exactly figured out what the "As Is" part is referring to, I suspect the lack of a horse (or donkey, it's not a big saddle...).
The Italian, she hasn't a clue, doesn't get the aesthetic, the possibilities, (and there are UNLIMITED possibilities, which I couldn't possibly explain here, or to her...), she only remembers the last time I was here I bought a whole lot of costume mustaches, hipster style, with similarly vague explanations. Doesn't matter. This was definitely the find of the day, left behind a great vintage lamp at $35.00, because I don't need another one, but that reasoning couldn't apply to the saddle...

Found these thrift shopping today, heavy, quite beaten up and worn from polishing, an auctioneers serial # lightly engraved inside the base, 10" high, Gothic (ish) in style and if I had to guess were used in a church. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them...

Possibly the biggest shipwreck find ever, the San Jose offers potentially upward of a billion dollars in treasure. In only 700 feet of water. And despite the article, the finders face a long battle with the Colombian Government for their fair share of the loot.

The World's 2nd largest diamond found in Botswana, apparently on the news yesterday and everyone was telling me about it today...we had customers reserve tables just to tell me...

Found by the Canadian Mining company Lucara, and at 1,111 Carats (that's only 210 grams, or a little under 8 oz) the 2nd largest gem quality diamond ever recovered.
