And still they're trying, last minute bookings thinking they can call on a Friday for Saturday or Valentines Day. And sad to tell them that we're fully booked, and cut short their special last-minute requests for specific tables and restricted diets. They sound surprised - why would we be busy? And we wonder where they've been eating the past year - McDonald's? Wendy's? For the very, very regulars we make room, keep a few tables in reserve for those who will expect we have thought ahead for them, we're good that way, but for the general public we've been closed a week.

Out of the blue today the ear began working again. Much as I expected to happen. Only one slight complication - to hear out of the left ear I have to breath in and pop my ears - which deafens the right ear. Release the pressure and I'm deaf in the left ear, but can hear fine in the right. I'm sure that by tomorrow it will be all sorted out...

...the issue persists. By every variety I mean syringing Hydrogen Peroxide in my ear, Olive oil, warm water, holding ear above steaming mug of hot water, of hot water with menthol crystals, of banging my head like an autistic madman against my pillow, of banging the opposite side of my head...
And there are these moments where it feels as though it must be done, I can feel a trickle, quick tickle in my ear, but still it persists. Q-tips dipped in oil, hot compresses, and still I can't hear a bloody thing, although I've noticed that some of the dozens of Q-tips stuffed in my ear have come back dirty and so it's possible that there is indeed some sort of waxy-buildup dislodged by the water. Today I'll try again and hope, leave the oil in to soak, loosen the wax, perhaps it's getting better by small degrees and I'm just not noticing? If it persists past the weekend I'll have to see a doctor (quack quack), although it'd be better to see an ear-wallah...
