Tonight, night off, first Theatre Grand production, for me, of the Season, ISOLDE, a contemporization of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, curious language, at times difficult to follow, but in the end worthwhile. Afterwards, hor d'oeuvres and wine served upstairs, hob-nob with the patrons and sponsors, the actors and actress, a lot of people I recognize, a couple I speak to, she knows me, I only recognize her husband, but can't place either, the house party at Martins' in Brittania, nope, I want to ask "Martin the Crack Dealer?" but a distant and better part of me intuits this is inappropriate...

Theatre Grand, the best theatre crowd in Calgary, the best performances, without a doubt, the most "Theatrical" or "Artistic" of any of the groups in Calgary, the crowd reflects this, theatre is not dead, it merely needs relevance and reinventing, and dollar for dollar they're doing it. A good night out.
