I always knew where to find you,
had your number and your address,
but didn't. I thought it best
to take certainty and roll it into chance,
the die was cast.
Eyes turned away to scan the cafe,
looking for the Coincidence, the Symmetry,
Call it Kismet or Fate or Destiny
that would bring you back.
At each concert and play
and movie and restaurant you may have been; but weren't.
I've seen you but once, and we didn't connect.

Searching now in spaces you'd never expect
Dry coulees, and on mountains, by creeks and I'll check
every place -

I still know where to find you,
but won't be that intrusive,
Still, I never expected you would be so Elusive...
