There's never enough time to catch up, the prison now of just enough money but it's forever spent in transit, on gas here and then back again...1 day to drive, an evening's visit, the next day - errands, shopping, a longer visit, the next day return...
Summer will be too brief and I'd better find a pocket full of diamonds before the end...

I didn't get a picture, sorry, but earlier in the day had spotted a red smear upon the road, roadkill, that went from the right side to the left, something had dragged it over the embankment down towards the lake.
And that evening, in the headlights, beside the road, a cougar and 2 cubs, the first one I've ever seen, and the next morning and evening I see glimpses of it again. It kind of makes you a bit nervous about spreading out your blanket and sleeping, this is a little bit close to where I've been spending the night, never one to set up a tent I just might have to start...
Of my friends giving me a vintage sportscar...

(since returning to the Kootenays I've had lots of strange dreams...)
I dreamed that a group of my friends (?? Who? I don't know...) had bought me a vintage sportscar, old, from the 50's, and I'm grateful for the gift but I don't want it, I don't need it, It will be too expensive to restore, and I'm at a farmers place - green farm with trees, somewhere north of Edmonton, the farmer, he's just dug up this car for me, it's been buried, 70 years almost, under 2 feet of soil, he's other vintage cars as well, all of them buried, under 2, 3, 4 feet of soil, and I'm expressing my dismay over the cost of restoration, how will I ever afford to get this working, running, and he's telling me that it's in great condition, almost started, just sputtering a bit, normal, given it's age...

...and forth...
Batshit finds you day 4, a gift for the son, an old Calgary Flames hat, a quick touch and frisk for a loan to buy the frame for the Mona Lisa which just happens to be hanging in the Salvation Army, then he's off.
The customers, many glad to see you back, some of the locals - members of the anti-tipping league - break form and even leave you a tip, but that won't happen again, it's a one off.
In a weird way it's good to be back, although the manners are - in general - ruder than what you'd find in the city, and we have customers exploding in alcoholic rages, fighting with staff, with themselves, you just shake your head, carry on, out here it's just another day, a game of numbers.
The schedule, I'd asked, been promised, 4 doubles, 3 off, so that I could return to Calgary and visit daughter, they give me 12 in a row - doubles, 2 off, I shuffle the schedule and make it work. This could be a long summer - if I can survive it, we'll see...
Early morning, drive to Calgary, visit, a few shops, errands, then - again tomorrow, bright and early, back to work the evening shift...
