Haven't watched for 15 years, but it's the daughter's prize for putting up with the first 3 episodes of "Lone Wolf and Cub". She likes it, loves it even, and is perplexed when it ends, there's another 3 people on Uma Thurman's List...
"That's Kill Bill 2" I explain, "We'll watch that when we finish the last 3 'Lone Wolf and Cub' Movies". I doubt she'll wait. I try to explain the debt that Tarantino owes the Baby Cart movies - without them there would be no "Kill Bill" - she gets it, but doesn't care, she wants to watch Kill Bill. So it goes.
Review: "Kill Bill", even after 15 years, holds up remarkably well. Especially if you know the source material.

Candlesticks, taking a big hit and nobody's swinging...wrong product, wrong town...
This is beautiful, I mean, German, Arts and Crafts, see another one for sale here: https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/antiques-and-decorative/p/goberg-candle-holder-aad012
I've easily got a dozen boxes full of antique candlesticks and I don't think I want to let them go at Calgary prices. I might have to set up some sort of online shop for the higher end items...
A luminous butterfly in an old hotel

I'm checking into an old hotel, the walls are yellow, outside it's surrounded by green trees. There's a dim comfortable light at the front desk, they know me when I come in, "Yes, yes Mr. Boyle, we have a room for you"...
They know me in a creepy kind of way, I don't know them, it reminds me a bit of Jack Torrance being finally welcomed to the Overlook Hotel...
The desk clerk shows me to my room. The room, dingy, yellow walls, it'll do, when I spot on it, flickering just out of reach of the light from the bedside lamp - a butterfly, camouflaged, then opening it's wings to reveal a beautiful burst of color, I try to bring my phone close to it to take a picture, share with a friend, but it flies away...
The desk clerk is apologizing, they don't usually have bugs in their hotel, but I'm looking for it now, on the wall in the hallway, opening it's wings a beautiful blue-green that casts a stunning penumbra onto the wall and I have to get a picture of this...
Cabaret (Review)

O.K. The "Cabaret" - read Burlesque, well, I've probably seen 1 too many. Not exciting. The Venue - upstairs at Saltlick - not at all suited, standing room with limited visibility and lots of blocking.
The audience - well, boring Calgary Theatre People. The kind of people Homer Simpson was thinking of when he said "...a Play ... A PLAY! WHAT COULD BE MORE BORING THAN A PLAY!!!". It's a fundraiser, so there's food and snacks - that's good. And they replenish it, so that's good because theatre people eat like every meal's gonna be their last.
But the act - fine, but you can't see it - or only in glimpses through the crowd, and these girls, I've seen 'em before in Nelson, wouldn't matter if I've never seen 'em before, Calgary, it's not the place to see Burlesque - Nelson, easy a dozen or more girls per show - this show, 3 girls, 4 acts, and really, I can't criticize, I've seen one too many burlesque shows is all and I need a break.
