Yeah, come the end of the day I'm trying to find a decent horror movie, with absolutely no luck whatsoever. Netflix, for all it's offerings, is more about quantity than quality.
The Devil - M. Night Shyamalan, the "twists" have become predictable and boring, The Invitation, The Long Grass, The Ritual, 1BR, ... there were more, too many, more, at best - average - at worst - well, still average. Horror - I would think - with the number of contestants in the genre - should offer some intelligent diversions upon the theme, but none whatsoever.
None of these deserve watching - or, really even mention - but I watched 'em so you don't have to. Meh.
For the Time Being - Annie Dillard

A recommendation of Dagmar's, a series of beautifully written meditations on the meaning of life. Lots of interesting sources to explore from here.

Picked up from the beach near the guest house, scouring for hammers, arrowheads, whatever, nada.

Lots of Tufa - porous carbonate minerals deposited by springs, different shapes that resemble corals, conglomerate (with mixed pebbles & plants in the mineralization), casts of plants the tufa formed around (natural "beads"), pink quartz, some botryoidal quartz (? Maybe calcite, not sure,...) a few others chosen for shape or color. Lots of rocks to choose from, Beach glass and old worn crockery, but not an artifact in sight.
